Data Center Interconnect FAQs

Read more about our Data Center Interconnect solutions by clicking on the questions below.

  • What factors should be considered when choosing a DCI solution?

When choosing a Data Center Interconnect (DCI) solution, key considerations include performance and reliability, ensuring high-speed, low-latency data transfer, and continuous operation. Scalability is crucial as the solution should adapt to your growing business needs. Robust security features are essential for data protection. Consider the geographical distance between your data centers, which can impact your choice and cost of the DCI solution. If the solution is compatible with your existing infrastructure, it is more cost-effective, balancing initial investment with ongoing operational expenses.

  • How scalable are Data Center Interconnect solutions?

Whether you are choosing a semi preconnectorized, or fully preconnectorized solution, Corning offers tremendous flexibility in fiber counts, allowing you to future proof your installation. Semi preconnectorized can utilize RocketRibbon® Cable in various fiber counts from 12F to 3456F in a single cable, splicing into our RXD-OSE housing, which can hold a max capacity of 6912F within a single unit. Additionally, we offer the popular 2178F family of closures for aerial, vault, handhole and more applications, offering a max of 3456F. Fully preconnectorized solutions benefit in every way from our EDGE Rapid Connect system. 70% faster than traditional splice solutions, EDGE RC offers Indoor & Outdoor Transport Trunks in 864F to 3456F, and a complete system of indoor breakout trunks 24F-864F and more. This system is designed to work with the RXD-OPE for a max of 6912F or the mighty Rapid Connect Consolidator Frame, offering a staggering 34,560 fibers in a single frame location.

  • How can you improve the efficiency of your DCI?

Improve the efficiency of your Data Center with Corning's EDGE™ Rapid Connect. This is a high-speed cable system that can connect data centers up to 70% faster than usual. With smaller and robust connectors, the installation is simpler, more efficient, and reliable, making it a great choice for quickly linking your data centers.
